Dr. Miller grew up in Hickory Creek, Texas before attending Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where he attained degrees in Philosophy and Biology. Afterward, he went to Medical School at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Ft. Worth, Texas. He completed a Family Practice residency in Erie,Pennsylvania.
During his residency training Dr. Miller joined the United States Air Force. He was subsequently assigned to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. While practicing primary care Dr. Miller became interested in mental illness which led him to undertake additional training to become a psychiatrist. He was reassigned to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio to train. After completing his training Dr. Miller remained at Lackland as faculty teaching residents. He became the Military Training Director for psychiatry and Chief of Inpatient Services . During his time in the military Dr. Miller successfully completed two deployments to the Middle East and was awarded both a Meritorious Service Medal as well as a Bronze Star.
He has worked as the Director of Medical Education for Kerrville State hospital and has faculty appointments at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and University of Incarnate Word. Dr. Miller has interests in cognitive neuroscience, dementia and mood disorders.
