What’s a hot flash?
A hot flash is a quick feeling of warmth and a flushed face with sweating. Hot flashes which occur at night are called night sweats.
Who gets hot flashes?
- Women who are in menopause or about to be in menopause
- Women who start menopause after chemo
- Women who have had surgery to remove their ovaries
“While hot flashes are not necessarily harmful to your health, they are annoying and embarrassing for many women,” said Dr. Ayo Avworo, investigator at CTT. “There are triggers you can avoid — such as stress and caffeine — but there is nothing you can currently do to avoid or lessen hot flashes.”
Clinical Trials of Texas is now enrolling for a hot flash research study.
