Heartburn Self-Scheduler
To qualify for this study, participants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have had both heartburn and regurgitation for at least 2 days if one of those symptoms is mild, or for at least 1 day if moderate to severe
- Symptoms include a burning sensation in the chest and sourness in mouth or uncomfortable movement of something from stomach to the throat
- Be willing to have an upper GI endoscopy
- Be willing to use contraception if female of non-child bearing potential
- Not be pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant if female
- Not have been in a previous research study in the past 4 weeks involving a study drug
- Not have a history of cancer in the past 5 years
- Exception is surgically treated basal cell or squamous cell cancer of the skin
- Not take antidepressants or antipsychotic medications
- Not have manic-depression, anxiety disorder, panic disorder, somatoform disorder, personality disorder, or other psychological disorder
- Not have history of acid-suppressive, esophageal, or gastric surgery
- Not have HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C
